First Field Trip of 2011-12

First Field Trip of 2011-12
June 27, 2011 Poveda Foundation

To bring on the new academic session with a bang, the kids had their first field trip for the year on the 23rd of June, less than a fortnight into the session.

Children from both centres accompanied by their didis and bhaiya spent the entire morning at IUCAA.  Science could never have been made any more easier or fun for the kids than their 3 hours at this amazing centre. Through different experiments, anecdotes and hands on moments the children experienced their textbooks come to life. Concepts of angles, pumps, frequency, wavelengths, positive and negative energy, recycling…all suddenly became so interesting.

Margaret, Meera and Tathagata from Infosys joined the group for the morning session and made us a huge donation of stationery, a simple first step of the planned collaboration.

Post lunch, the group visited Joshi’s Railway Museum at Kothrud and with intrigue watched the animated presentation on different trains. The next stop was at the Handmade Paper Institute where the kids saw the stages of preparation of paper and were especially delighted to see the end product in different colours and designs.

Kudos to the kids and the mission of Poveda! We had a wonderful time being a part of the Poveda classroom. Right now we are taking baby steps keeping in sync with the mission of Poveda.

On behalf of Margaret(didi) and Ross Fieldsend and Infosys, I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this cause.
